How the verdict works
Every two minutes we pull live data from Singapore's Land Transport Authority: available lots at 3,000+ carparks, every reported accident and breakdown, platform crowding at every MRT station, and the position of every free taxi. When you search a destination, we weigh parking supply near it, incidents around it, and rail health — then give you a straight answer.
Common questions
How fresh is the data?
Carpark availability, taxi positions and incidents refresh every two minutes. MRT platform crowd levels update every ten minutes, which matches how often LTA publishes them.
Which carparks are covered?
All carparks in LTA's live feed: every HDB carpark, URA carparks, and major malls and developments such as Marina Square, Raffles City and Suntec. Smaller private carparks without electronic lot counting are not in the feed.
How much does HDB parking cost?
HDB short-term parking is $0.60 per half hour at most carparks, and $1.20 per half hour at Central Area carparks during peak hours (weekdays 7am to 5pm). We show the applicable rate next to each HDB carpark in your result.
Does the verdict account for ERP charges?
Not yet. LTA stopped publishing ERP rates through its open API after the move to ERP 2.0. The verdict weighs parking, traffic and rail conditions.
Is this an official LTA service?
No. ShouldIDrive.sg is an independent site that uses official open data from LTA DataMall, OneMap and data.gov.sg under the Singapore Open Data Licence.
